Most game-changing health initiatives don’t fail. They just never really start.
We align the people, sharpen the plan, and move systems forward.
The most important health work happens in the spaces between systems. That’s where we live – across health plans, food is medicine, education, environment, housing, and the areas where no single sector has the answer.
We bring deep roots and high-level thinking to all of it.
MBM + Co brings together leaders across sectors to create clarity, alignment, and forward momentum, translating complex systems into work that actually moves.
If you’re working to shift the systems shaping our health – wherever you sit – we’re in it with you.

No predetermined frameworks. We assess the landscape, identify where the work is stuck, and build the right team around it.
Now here’s when to bring us in.
Together with our facilitation experts, we turn complexity into shared understanding – the kind that sticks and moves people forward.
Make no assumptions. More on that later.
That’s exactly where we work best.
We pull in the right expertise from our network of healthcare and food insecurity, and policy veterans, get clear on what the work actually is, and build the foundation for something that doesn’t just patch the problem.
Let’s focus on what could be, not what’s always been.
This is the work we’re built for, bringing sectors together. It’s complex, it’s political, and we don’t shy away from either.
We bring in our facilitation partner Danielle Kaynor to lead the room, so the right conversations happen and the right people leave ready to move.
Let’s do this again.
We’re not a large consulting firm and we’re not a single contractor.
We live in between, building the right team for the work.
We work at every scale.
From national efforts like the HHS Food is Medicine Toolkit to regional pilots, we build trust-based relationships with our clients and we deliver. Every time.
Our philosophy is simple: make no assumptions.
We move quickly to create clarity in spaces that feel undefined and get to the real work fast, even if you’re not sure what the work needs to be.

Our work exists in the gaps between systems and ideas, where real change happens.

Working with Michelle means working with a partner who knows how to navigate complexity, and bring people with her.
She brings over 15 years of experience across health, food, and systems change, along with a steady, thoughtful approach to the work.
You’ll work directly with her throughout – whether she’s facilitating a room, shaping strategy, translating research and insights, or bringing in the right collaborators to strengthen the work.
At the core, she helps teams take complex, often abstract work and turn it into something people can align around, move forward – and ultimately translate into meaningful improvements in health and the systems that shape it.

Here’s the truth: we don’t work in just one field.
The challenges we’re solving don’t live in one sector – and neither do the solutions. If your work touches health in any way, there’s a place for us to start.
Spearheading a national FIM toolkit alongside the US government.
The HHS Food is Medicine Toolkit shapes national high-quality food distribution guidance for government bodies, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
In 2024, MBM + Co joined the project alongside facilitation expert Danielle Kaynor, co-designing and facilitating over 20 cross-sector workshops with several hundred public and private sector partners.
Insights from these workshops informed the launch of the HHS Food Is Medicine website, including a toolkit of federal resources and an analytic framework adopted across researchers, care delivery organizations, and industries.
Since launch, the Food is Medicine Toolkit has impacted countless lives and remains in use across the country as the US Government’s primary resource for Food is Medicine initiatives.
Leading 35+ food bank leaders across America with an innovation roadmap.
In partnership with Feeding America, MBM + Co dedicated years to bringing together food bank leaders from across the country, co-creating a shared vision and practical roadmap for healthcare partnerships rooted in community innovation.
This work laid the foundation for the now-booming Food is Medicine sector, growing the cohort from 10 to over 35 food bank leaders across America.
The collaborative directly catalyzed state- and community-level operational breakthroughs, including new care delivery models, contracting approaches, and technology insights that continue to shape the field.
Our work was widely recognized for fostering a high-trust, peer-led learning environment. Members consistently cited it as “the most valuable and actionable workgroup” during that period.
The strength and visibility of the cohort’s work contributed to the first-ever MOU between HHS and Feeding America, helping formalize food insecurity as a national health priority.
In-depth landscape analysis synthesized into a strategy tackling food insecurity.
MBM + Co led a comprehensive landscape analysis in partnership with Share Our Strength to assess how the healthcare sector is addressing food insecurity and where meaningful opportunities exist to better support children and families.
We designed and executed a multi-phase discovery process, including internal assessment, literature and policy review, market analysis, and interviews with healthcare leaders, Medicaid stakeholders, community-based organizations, and national partners.
Findings were synthesized into a clear set of strategic recommendations, helping translate a complex and fragmented landscape into actionable direction for investment, partnership, and program design.
The work laid the foundation for Share Our Strength’s healthcare strategy and No Kid Hungry campaign.
Insights from the analysis informed the development of key initiatives, including the Medicaid Food Security Network, identified near-term funding opportunities, and established a strategic path to expand impact for children and families.
Our results aren’t just ours alone.
They belong to our incredible partners who helped make them happen.

Michelle is one of the few people that I have met that fully understands Food is Medicine from two different worlds: Health Care and Nutritional Food Security. She was the bridge builder between our worlds.
When working in complexity very rarely do you find thought leadership, strategic leadership and large scale facilitation skills in the same person – that is what you get with Michelle.
Amongst all of Michelle’s amazing skills she was a lot of fun to work with!!!
